MAXI LD™ PTA Dilatation Catheter
The MAXI LD™ PTA Dilatation Catheter is a large-diameter over-the-wire angioplasty balloon designed for the treatment of large peripheral vessels. It provides controlled dilation for procedures involving iliac arteries and other large vascular structures.
With a coaxial 7F OTW shaft, braided inner body, and high-pressure performance, the MAXI LD™ catheter offers excellent pushability, stability, and reliable balloon expansion during complex endovascular interventions.

Description
The MAXI LD™ PTA Dilatation Catheter from Cordis Corporation is specifically engineered for large-vessel angioplasty procedures where standard balloon diameters are insufficient. Designed as a 0.035” over-the-wire (OTW) system, the catheter provides enhanced control, torque transmission, and procedural reliability for demanding peripheral vascular interventions.
The device features a large-diameter balloon range up to 25 mm, making it suitable for procedures involving iliac arteries, abdominal aorta branches, and other large peripheral vessels. The short balloon shoulders facilitate precise dilation near vessel bifurcations, such as the aortic bifurcation, improving procedural accuracy and reducing the risk of unwanted vessel trauma.
Its braided inner shaft construction enhances torque response and pushability, enabling clinicians to navigate complex vascular anatomy. Meanwhile, the coaxial 7F over-the-wire design ensures compatibility with commonly used guidewires and provides superior catheter stability during balloon inflation.
The MAXI LD™ balloon catheter is commonly used in:
-
Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA)
-
Treatment of peripheral artery stenosis
-
Iliac artery dilation
-
Large vessel revascularization
-
Pre- and post-stent dilation
-
Treatment of vascular strictures
With rated burst pressures of 5–6 atm, the balloon delivers controlled radial force while maintaining safety and reliability during high-diameter vessel dilation.
